The Cabin

Located in the woods north of Kulen and Lake Minska, this humble home is just outside of Lotus Pier while being completely swathed in the forest. It was built by a contracted local in Kulen, and paid for by Obi-Wan Kenobi [personal profile] hadthehighground. Gosalyn inherited the Cabin from Obi-Wan when he disappeared in February of 2021. For a while she lived there with Rey, until Rey moved out to stay with Kylo Ren in Bavan. Therefore, when Darkwing arrived in April of 2021, he found himself a home owner. What follows are the layout and references created by DarkFeather, Obi-Wan's player during that time. I have taken them both with their permission.

Since the home was commissioned by a nymph, nothing living was sourced to build it. Fallen trees and stone make up the entirety of the structure, starting with the living room and modest kitchen on the first floor:

The house has plumbing and basic electricity, but beyond that, the Cabin's previous inhabitant left it sparse of belongings and decorations: something that Darkwing is attempting to change as he starts to make any disposable income from his job. Any items he chooses to decorate the house will be very much in keeping with the way he decorated their house in St. Canard: primary colors, a few knick-knacks that have either meaning or appeal to both members of the family.

A staircase made from a single felled tree leads up to the gable of the cabin, where Gosalyn sleeps. She's decorated it in her inimitable style, Preteen Hurricane, with a dash of Hero-In-Training.

A doorway at the back of the living area leads to the master bedroom, which Darkwing is slowly in the process of making his own. There is an enclosed garden, its top open to the air, a study area off to one side, and another door leading out to the bathing patio. The ceilings are higher in this room, due to its original inhabitant being a nymph, and Darkwing plans to install loft bookcases as his collection of Ryslig literature and research grows.

The bathing patio is open to the air, surrounded by wooden fencing with a simple roof for privacy. The bath is made of natural stone and surrounded by wooden floors. The tub is fed with hot mineral water from a nearby spring, and is able to hold up to three human sized occupants at once for a relaxing evening soak.

Right next to the hot spring tub are the rest of the facilities, including a sink, toilet, and waterfall shower. The cold water is piped in directly from the nearby creek and the hot water from the same hot spring that feeds the tub. The simple roof from the bath continues over this space, with slatted openings to let natural light in. In the winter, this roof is covered from the elements, and a space heater keeps it warm. In the summer, all of the naturally sourced stone keeps it cool and comfortable.

Outside the cabin, there is a coop containing several chickens and a rooster, a family of three goats, and one wayward Porg. The chickens behave themselves well, the goats eat clothing if you get too close and are prone to escaping, and the Porg ... well. Let's just say Darkwing and the Porg have a very terse relationship. If Gosalyn weren't so attached to them all, he would have rehomed them immediately: he's a city slicker, not a farmer! But she loves them, and they remind her of the friends who once took care of her when she first arrived, so sentimentality wins, as it always does.
